Hi Friend! My name is Tyrenda but my friends call me Ty. I currently reside in Nampa with my husband Craig and 3 of our 4 legged pets. My son Todd currently attend BSU and serves our country in the Army National Guard. I qualified for 3 state championships in California, where they run ALL divisions combined. So state meet you are truly watching the best in the state. My high record in the shot stood for over 20yrs, and I helped coach the young lady who broke the record. I went on to become the state champion in shot and discus for DeAnza Junior College. I then went on to continue my throwing career on an athletic scholarship at Fresno State. I placed 3rd in the WAC (now known as the Mountain West) in the shot put and 6th in the discus. I was able to add the hammer and weight throw to my arsenal under the coaching of previous Olympic Assistant Coach Tom Pagani. I then spent the last 20+ years coaching kids from 6yrs old all the way up to the jr. college level. I have helped multiple athletes qualify for CA state meet and go on to receive athletic opportunities in college in multiple divisions. One of my greatest achievements was watching my son place 3rd in the state of Idaho in the discus and receive multiple opportunities to continue his athletic career. It's no secret Coach Amber and myself plan on taking Idaho by storm, and want to see the state produce some of the best throwers in the country!

Hi my name is Amber Campos and throwing is a true passion of mine. I am married to the love of my life and high school sweetheart Andrew. We have two incredible kids Alec (13) and Alivia (11). I was introduced to throwing in the 8th grade and fell in love with the sport. I broke my high school discus and shot put record and trained my future athletes to do the same. I medaled all four years at state in discus and three years in shot put. After high school I got a track scholarship to Boise State University where I learned how to throw the hammer and the weight. I was blessed to meet incredible people from around the world and learned to love and appreciate the complexity that is throwing. I received my bachelor's in Physical Education and a minor in Health. I received my first teaching job at my old stomping grounds at Caldwell High where I taught Health, Weights and PE. I coached volleyball for 10 years and track for 13. In my 13 years, I had 13 years of athletes on the podium including 6 State titelist! I am now in Homedale where I am trying to continue the same level of excellence. Last year I had a State titlelist and 2 more on the podium. I look forward to starting Master's this year, leading two sessions at a coaches clinic and coaching at the Iron Wood Throws Camp. I am beyond excited to start this new chapter in my life with Coach Tyrenda by my side. Together we will help bring Idaho up to date in throws and make our great State a place that is competitive in the throws world!

Hi, I’m Derik Barrett. I’ve been coaching track and field for the past four years, currently serving as an assistant throws coach for our club as well as at Homedale High School and Middle School.
My passion for throwing began in my own middle school years and has only grown stronger. For me, coaching is a primary way to give back to the community and my family. All three of my children have competed in track and field, and it has been an incredible experience watching them grow as athletes. I have had the privilege of seeing two of my children qualify for the State meet, and my oldest son progressed to the Junior Olympic Championships. Most recently, I’ve had the honor of helping him navigate the recruitment process as he received an athletic scholarship to continue his throwing career at the collegiate level.
As a USATF-certified coach, I am committed to helping every athlete reach their full potential, especially those who may not have consistent access to training facilities. To solve that gap, I built a dedicated indoor throwing and lifting space at home, providing our throwers with a year-round environment to improve. We focus heavily on technique, explosive strength, and building well-rounded individuals who are as strong in life as they are in the ring.
It is an honor to coach alongside outstanding mentors and to help build a meaningful legacy for Idaho athletics. I am excited for the season ahead and fully committed to helping our throwers reach the next level—one athlete at a time.

Hey! I’m Victoria Rodriguez. I live in Caldwell idaho with my fiancée Kelly, our 2 kids Hayzl & Amari and our 2 dogs, Titan and Bear. I’m mainly a stay at home mom raising our kids who are 4 years old and 18 months old. I am a Boise State track alumni where I threw shot put, hammer and some discus. Prior to that, I went to school in Nyssa, Oregon where I was a 3x state champion in the shot put. I went out for track my 8th grade year because I didn’t get a call back from the competitive softball team I had been on but there was NO way I was going to run LOL. Come to find out, I was pretty good at it! In 2017 one of my old high school coaches recommended me to the Meridian High School track coach to be their throws coach. I coached at Meridian High School from 2017-2020, then the pandemic hit. I took a break, had my first kid then in 2023 I stepped back into coaching at Mountain View High School in Meridian. My love for throwing and getting to coach some of the most incredible athletes has been one of my greatest joys. Since coaching at Mountain View, I’ve had one state champion in the discus and one state champion in shot put along with a handful of others who made the podium at state. I am very excited to coach alongside Coach Ty and knowing we have the same coaching styles is what makes me even more excited to help coach the most elite throwers in Idaho.

Hi everyone! My name is Todd, and I am thrilled to join the Gem State Elite coaching staff. Throwing isn't just a sport for me; it’s a family legacy. I grew up on the infield watching my mom, Coach Tyrenda, train elite athletes. As a kid, I didn’t just watch—I mimicked. I taught myself the complex rotational movements by ear and sight, absorbing the nuances of the non-reverse European style before I was even old enough to compete.
In a sea of athletes who rely on a reverse, I became known for that disciplined, non-reverse style—a technique that demands immense raw power and perfect foundational bracing. While I stepped away to focus on football for a time, the technique stayed in my DNA. After losing my junior season to COVID, I returned to the circle in Idaho and launched a 162'10" discus throw, taking 3rd in State (4A) and ranking top 6 overall. That performance sparked a wave of opportunities, including track and football offers from NNU, as well as football offers from Division I programs like Washington State and Bucknell.
Since then, I’ve served in the Army National Guard with a combat deployment to Southeast Asia, and I’ve translated that leadership to the sidelines, recently coaching a State Championship football team at Nampa Christian. While I still have the strength to sail a collegiate disc well past 130 feet when the mood strikes, my true mission now is technical mentorship. I am driven to help the next generation of throwers master the "lost art" of the non-reverse and find their own path to the podium. Let’s show the country what Idaho athletes can do!
