We understand that families have summer vacations planned in the summer and other fun activities. Please let one of the coaches know in advance if you are unable to attend to avoid meet entrance. GST is a competitive club, where as you are not required to attend every practice, to receive the results you want for yourself, you have to put in the time & effort.
This is a competative club, with opportunities to compete in meets several times throughout the summer. Monies for entrance fee's are due the week prior, unless specified. If athletes are a no-show to meets, fees are NON-REFUNDABLE.
Travel to meets will be dependent on the parent of youth team members. Qualifying athletes going to Jr. Olympics with no parental supervision may require permission slips and pre-determined travel fees. Please note, hotel stays, van/travel expenses are the responsibility of the athletes and their families. Fees and expenses, hotels can be split amongst athletes, please note, female athletes can only hotel stay with parents or other female athletes, and visa verse for male athletes.
**Athletes are required to have proper throwing shoes. We have a partnership with Bandana's downtown Boise, if you mention Gem State Throwers you will receive 20% off.
**Athletes are encouraged to have their own implements as well, we will provide implements for practices, but those will be somewhat limited to shot and discus. Javelin and hammer throwers are encouraged to bring their own implements. As well as masters athletes.
**Athletes should have warm and cold weather clothes to prepare for the ever changing climate of ID.
**Be prepared with snacks, water, Gatorade etc as USATF meets can often times be long
**Always have extra towels to wipe down wet implements and shoes
I always say it's field & track not track & field. No seriously, throwing is a niche, not many coaches can teach it, let along teach it well. Our coaching staff has all had years of experience as athletes, many competing at the Division I level, and our mentor coaches have either been state placers or qualifiers. We are extremely blessed to have so much knowledge right here in our Treasure Valley.
